Emergency Cancellation Procedures

If both the 8:00 and 10:30 services are cancelled on Sunday morning, a service at 1:00 pm will be offered at the Macungie Campus, weather permitting.  Please continue to check the status of our worship services on WFMZ and Bethany’s website.  Additionally, we will utilize the b-mail and our Bethany App, which will update you on the status of worship services.

Hospital Visits

Please contact the church office if you or a family member will be going to the hospital. When you register at the hospital please use Church Code 747. If you have any questions, call the church office at
610-395-3613.

General Announcements

There are many ways to still contribute:

Our cupboards are bare!  We are looking for donations of “Rold Gold” pretzels, “Nabisco Barnum” animal crackers and baked goods.   The reason we are asking for specific brands is because of allergies.  We also have a bakers list.  We encourage the bakers to pick a week that they would like to donate.  If you are interested please contact Jennifer Alderson.

If you would be interested in receiving prayer requests via email, please contact Donna Long at dlong@bethanyumchurch.com so you can be added.

Volunteers are needed to take parishioners who were recently in the hospital to doctor appointments and to therapy appointments. If you are able to serve in this mission, please contact the church office at 610-395-3613.

At Bethany, Group Life has different types of groups including Adult Sunday School, Life Groups, and Short-Term study groups.  These groups meet for the purpose of going deeper in our relationship with Jesus through studying God’s word, praying, and having fellowship with other Christians.  If you are interested in the current groups being offered at Bethany, please check out the Bethany Church app or contact Donna Barnwell dbarnwell@bethanyumchurch.com, 610-395-3613.

**Financial Peace University (FPU) begins on Sunday, October 17 at 9am.  See specific FPU announcement for more detail.

Adult Sunday School Classes are offered every Sunday at the Macungie campus during the Sunday School hour beginning at 9:15 a.m.  You may join a class at any time.

If you are visiting for the first time, please stop by the Children’s Desk for information on our ministries and events and receive a welcome gift for your child.

Beginning Sunday, September 12th, we will be launching new classrooms for our Children’s Sunday School program. Growing from 3 classes to 7, we will have classes for 2-3 year old’s, 4-5 year old’s, Kindergarten, First, 2nd & 3rd, and 4th & 5th. Maps and signs will be available to assist you in picking up your children after the 10:30 service.
 Sunday School: 10:30am. We would appreciate more helpers in each class. We have all our core teachers in place, but could always use assistants or subs.

Awana  Awana is our mid-week children’s program which will is held at the Wescosville Campus.  There is a family meal from 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and then Awana runs from 6:15 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.  Ages 2 years through 5th grade.  Register online at www.bethanyumchurch.com.

Classroom assistants are needed.  The classroom assistant would require you to be at Awana each week, listening to the children recite their verses, helping the leader during lesson time and bringing the children down together for game time.

MOPS & MOMSnext: Mothers of Preschoolers and Elementary students meetings are the 2nd & 4th Fridays 9:30-11:30 am at Macungie Campus. All moms are welcome to join in a time of gathering, community, learning and fun. Come spoil yourself with some Mom time. MopsKids is available for children.

40 Day Prayer Vigil Sept. 22 – Oct. 31
 
The S.O.U.L. Ministry is inviting you to be part of daily prayer vigils that will take place at the outdoor cross behind the Macungie building parking lot and the soccer fields.
Come to the Cross and join the SOUL team in prayer:
– for families
– for all people to value life more deeply
– for hearts and minds to be changed to save lives
– for Bethany to be a safe welcoming place where women and men facing difficult pregnancy decisions can come to find help, hope and acceptance in the healing power of Jesus.

Partnership Class

Philippians 1:3-4    “I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now…”

Partnership Classes will be held in place of Membership Classes.  The next Partnership Class will be Wednesdays, October 13 and 20 from 6:15-745pm at Wescosville campus.  If you would like to join Bethany Church, please sign up for the Partnership Classes where you will learn more about partnering with God through the ministries and mission of Bethany Church. You can sign up via the Bethany Church app, by calling the church office, or come to the Information Desk on Sunday mornings to sign up.

Mama Bear Bible Study – Wednesday evenings, 6:15-7:45pm

Moms, would you like to gather with other Christian moms to talk about issues facing your children and how to analyze these issues from a biblical viewpoint and to learn how to counter nonbiblical viewpoints with a Christ-like approach? 

Moms of children birth through 5th grade are invited to be a part of this Wednesday evening moms’ group which will use the book Mama Bear Apologetics by Hillary Morgan Ferrer.  Sign up by contacting the church office, through the Bethany app, or at the Information Desk on Sunday mornings. Further information will be provided to those who sign up. 

Book of James Bible Study – Wednesday evenings, Sept 22-Nov 17, 6:15-7:45pm

“The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus – the kind of discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord.” RNM        This 8 week bible study will work through the book of James challenging followers of Christ to move beyond an intellectual knowledge of God to a vibrant faith. Sermon Discussion Group – Wednesday evenings, begins Sept 22, 6:15-7:45pm

Have you ever left worship on a Sunday morning and thought “I wish I could sit down and talk with someone about the pastor’s message”?  Here’s your chance!  You are invited to join others, in a relaxed, comfortable setting, and “talk through” the previous Sunday’s message.  What spoke to you?  What challenged you?  What questions do you have? This is a drop-in, come when you can, group. You don’t need to attend each week and you don’t need to sign up.  Meet in the back of the Wescosville sanctuary at 6:15pm on Wednesday evenings – there will be a chair waiting for you

Priority One Men’s Retreat Men – You are invited to refresh your mind, body, and soul at this retreat happening September 23-26 at Lake Champion in Glen Spey, NY. We are excited for the 2021 season of Operation Christmas Child. You’ll be encouraged to pack your own shoebox and/or RSVP to attend a packing party. Please mark your calendars with the dates below and more details will be coming in October. Women’s Ministry Conference

Facebook: Did you know that the women have a Facebook page? It is a private site where we share prayer requests, give announcements and share our events. All ladies of our church are invited to find us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/BethanyUMChurchwomen

Purls: Join this group of ladies on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Studio, as they stitch prayer shawls, lap robes and baby blankets for those in need. All stitched items are prayed over before giving them to the recipient. Shawls and lap robes are also donated to various nursing homes. This month, they will also be stitching winter hats, mittens and scarves for children in Allentown. ALL knitters, loomers, crochet stitchers or want-to-be stitchers are welcome to come at any time. Friday, October 1st: FIRST FRIDAY!!!! We will be bringing back Youth Fridays, formerly known as Cafe! This is a great time to invite your friends. Each month will include a different theme, hard-core games, calmer games, food, and an inter-generational activity. 7:00-9:00pm Typically held at Macungie Campus.
*** We are planning to go to a corn maze for our October event.
 
Monday, October 11th: Youth Hang Out Day. 10:00am-2:00pm Wescosville. All youth and friends are welcome to come play games, relax, eat & have fun.
 
Wednesday, October 27th: TRUNK R TREAT. Help us decorate the Bethany Bus and hand out candy for our annual Trunk R Treat. Great time to invite friends.
 
Sunday School will look a little different beginning October 3rd. Students will have the opportunity to choose classes based upon interest.
  1. Confirmation is for students in 7th grade and above who are interested in learning more about their faith and are considering becoming members of Bethany Church. There is a $20.00 cost for materials.
  2. Disciple is designed for students who want to really dig deep into Scripture and learn what the Bible says. Encouraged for high school students, this will be an inter-generational class, meaning adults will also be participating.
  3. Topical: Each week we will focus on a different hot topic and look at what the Bible says about that topic. This is designed to help students learn how to live our their faith in their daily life.

We are now sponsoring NewComer Academy. This school is made up of refugee children.
We pack 25 bags everyweek. That means we need 25 of everything listed below.

Canned vegetables and fruit, soup, Mac & Cheese, Pasta/Tomato Sauce, Rice/Beans, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Cereal, Breakfast Bars, Pancake Mix and Syrup, Oatmeal, Juice, Popcorn, Pudding, Granola Bars
