Rev. Kathryn Wieder

Kathryn is an ordained Deacon in Full Connection with the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Unlike Elders in the United Methodist Church who are ordained to Word, Order and Sacrament, Kathryn is ordained to Service, Love and Justice.  She was ordained in 1998, before that she was a consecrated Diaconal Minister.

Currently she has a part-time appointment as the Pastor of Visitation.  Kathryn suffers from New Daily Persistent Headaches which necessitates the part-time appointment and explains why you will often see her in dark glasses.

Her last appointment was as Chaplain at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.  She served that position for 7 and 1/2 years until becoming ill due to a virus.

Kathryn has a BS in education from Kutztown University and a MATS with a specialization in pastoral care and counseling from Eatern Baptist Theological Seminary (now known as Palmer Seminary.)  Kathryn continued her education in Pastoral Care with a two-year residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital.  Kathryn has previously served on staff at Asbury UM, as Associate Pastor at Grace UM in Pen Argyl, Trinity UM in Allentown and Salem UM in Allentown.

Before finishing her graduate degree and her residency, Kathryn was on staff at Bethany in various positions: a PreSchool teacher, Director of Youth Ministries and Director of Lay Ministries.

Kathryn and her husband David have been connected to Bethany since 1977.  They raised two children: Adam, currently a Leiutenant Commander in the US Navy and SarahKate, an accountant.  Adam and his wife, Erin, are the parents of 3 boys.  SarahKate and her husband, Robert, are the parents of 1 boy.
