The Bethany Purls invite you to join us on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Fireside room of the Parsonage. We would be happy to teach those who do not know how to knit or crochet. All you need to do is bring knitting needles (size 13 or 15, the larger the better to learn) or a crochet hook and some yarn.
The Purls have given out more than 200 shawls or lap robes to date and have received many blessings in return. Won’t you please join in on these blessings?
If you can’t make our meetings we would be more than happy if you can work on your items at home and send them into us. Besides prayer shawls and lap robes we also make baby blankets for infant baptism or dedication, cancer caps, baby hats for the little ones in the NICU and more.
What is a Prayer Shawl?
Care and the love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient.
Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed it is offered a final ritual before being sent along its way.
